UNODC has launched a global awareness campaign: "
A message of hope: Drug use disorders are preventable and treatable"

On the occasion of the approaching
International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, June 26, 2014, this topic underlines that
a) sustained success in the reponse to illicit drugs requires a balanced, cooperative and integrated approach, that addresses both supply and demand reduction;b) that a balanced approach includes measures focusing on prevention, treatmnet, rehabilitation and social cohesion andc) that science plays a key role in this process.The campaign will show how the UNODC is helping to bridge the gap between science and practice by facilitating the dialogue of policy makers with the scientific community.

ECAD representative in Russia, All-Russian Narcological League, marks the International Day against Drug Abuse fourth year in a row. Also this year, under the auspices of Russian Ministry of Health, ECAD partners in Russia organize
drug - free activities on June 19. Moscow City government contributes with premises for seminars, trainings, information points and drawing contests among children during the day.
ECAD will be present at the launch of the World Drug Report in Vienna. The event will be held at the Vienna International Centre on June 26th in the context of the intersessional work of the CND, which has already started preparations for the Special session of the UN General Assembly on the world drug problem to be held in 2016.
On June 27, ECAD will participate in the meeting of the Vienna NGO Committee on drugs.
